The Gaming Authority (Ksa) has fined JOI Gaming (owner of Jacks Casino) €400,000 . The reason for this large fine is for violating the ban on advertising targeting young adults.
The Ksa found that from December 8, 2021 to March 7, 2022, JOI Gaming Ltd sent advertising messages for online games of chance on its website jacks.nl. These advertising messages were directed to JOI Gaming's customer base, including young adults.
The prohibition on targeting advertising to young adults
This is not permitted. The law explicitly includes protecting young adults because they are at greater risk of gambling addiction. Enforcing the ban on advertising aimed at young adults is one of the Ksa's priorities. After launching gambling law, the Kansspelautoriteit further emphasized to licensed providers how the provisions on advertising and recruiting activities are intended. The fact that this provider nevertheless targeted young adults is considered serious and culpable by the Gaming Authority.
