Unibet Nederland is the Dutch version of the popular website devoted to online gambling and athletics betting, called Unibet. It's managed by the Kindred Group, a worldwide casino corporation that is based in Malta. Unibet provides a variety of online gambling services, including sports betting, casino games, poker, and bingo.
Unibet Netherlands has had a turbulent 2025 so far: lower revenues, stricter regulations, and a penalty hanging over its head courtesy of the Dutch gambling authority (Ksa). Yet, against the odds, the brand still sees reasons to be cautiously optimistic. GamblingHolland.nl digs into the latest numbers, the legal headaches, and why Unibet’s roulette wheel keeps spinning—even if it feels more like Russian roulette at times.
During the first half of 2025, Unibet’s Dutch operations reported a 43% drop in revenue compared to 2024. The main culprits:
More Players, Less Money
Here’s the paradox: while revenue is down, the number of active players actually went up. That’s one reason why Unibet and its French parent company, FDJ United (which acquired the brand in late 2024), remain cautiously upbeat. The thinking goes: if more people are playing under tighter rules, maybe the long-term base is solid.
As one industry insider joked: “It’s like hosting a bigger party, but everyone brings fewer drinks.”
In September 2025, the Ksa imposed a “last onder dwangsom” (penalty order) on Unibet. The sanction: €75,000 per week for future violations, up to a maximum of €450,000, if the operator once again offers forbidden sports bets.
Unibet claims to have tightened compliance and removed the offending bets (like wagers on yellow cards and youth matches), but the Ksa is keeping a close eye. And let’s face it, once the referee has shown you the yellow card, you really don’t want to risk the red.
Legal Battles Continue
Unibet also faces ongoing lawsuits from Dutch players who demand compensation for gambling losses incurred before the company held a Dutch licence. Courts have repeatedly ordered Unibet to disclose historical player data, creating more headaches for its legal department.
Meanwhile, the compliance team must balance these legal obligations with the regulator’s expectations. In football terms: it’s extra time, and Unibet is already playing with ten men.
In June, the Kindred Group, the parent company of Unibet, finally got the approval for an official gaming license in the Netherlands. Unibet is also active in Belgium. Unibet Netherlands is specifically designed for the Dutch market and provides services to Dutch players. It's monitored and licensed by the Dutch government, the Kansspelautoriteit, which ensures that it's in compliance with local laws and regulations.
Despite the setbacks, Unibet remains one of the largest licensed operators in the Netherlands. The platform features:
1,000+ casino games
An extensive live casino with Dutch-speaking dealers
Several exclusive tables and games
For many Dutch players, this breadth of choice remains a key draw—even if the house’s profits are slimmer than last year.
Unibet Netherlands has a variety of games available at its online casino. Here are some of the most popular genres and games that you can access on the platform.
Unibet's Netherlands team has several different types of slots, including classic slots, video slots, and progressive jackpot slots. You can select from different topics, features and maximum bets.

Compared to other Dutch online casinos, Unibet has many more bingo games. These make it a good choice for bingo fans.
There are three bingo rooms to choose from: 75 Ball Variant, 90 Ball Speed and 75 Ball Speed. People who choose Bingo will find that there are multiple options for each room. Unibet not only offers bets on popular sports like football and Formula 1, but also bets on less popular sports like darts, surfing, snooker, badminton and table tennis. Unibet Sports is known in the Netherlands for their wide variety of games, including sports betting. Betting on cards, or betting on which corner the ball will go out, are some examples of things you cannot bet on at Unibet in the Netherlands. The available options for sports betting will not be the same as before the online gambling market opened.
