ZonMw's Gambling Addiction Prevention Research Programme was launched on 1 March. Funding for the project is open to researchers working in the field of gambling addiction, gambling-related harm and prevention and treatment of problem gambling.
ZonMw's project
ZonMw's research project is one of the spending targets of the Addiction Prevention Fund, established under the Remote Gambling Act. Researchers can apply until 5 May to be considered for research grants. Priority questions form the basis of a research programme on gambling addiction prevention. The programme's mission is to contribute to the prevention and treatment of gambling addiction, gambling-related harm and gaming problems by developing new knowledge and promoting its use.
One of the spending objectives of the fund is to fund research on the prevention and treatment of gambling addiction, better known as gambling addiction. The Gaming Authority asked ZonMw to develop a research programme on the prevention and treatment of gambling addiction. To this end, the Trimbos Institute first mapped available knowledge and then developed a research agenda. An independent expert group advised which topics should be prioritised on the research agenda.
purpose of the call for subsidies
The programme's mission is to contribute to the prevention and treatment of gambling addiction, gambling-related harm and gambling problems by developing new knowledge and promoting its use. The main objective of this fundraising is to obtain answers to highly pressing research questions of the intellectual agenda. Applicants should focus on issues related to vulnerable populations, prevention, treatment and intervention, product characteristics/context and gambling-related harm.
The Remote Gaming Act (Koa) regulates online gambling in the Netherlands and tightens addiction prevention requirements for both online and offline (land-based) gambling. The law also covers the Addiction Prevention Fund, which is administered by the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa).
