Novomatic has been granted the sixth slots license in Germany, joining many other licensed companies. Their subsidiary, BluBet Operations, will be able to use the novoline.de web domain thanks to this license.
On July 1 of last year, Germany introduced its fourth gambling state treaty. The licensees of the new slots came out of this treaty, along with the other gambling licensee types. There were a number of rules that people disagreed with, including a 5.3% tax on online poker and slots turnover.
License for Novomatic
In Germany, the state of Sachsen-Anhalt handles licensing. No online casino, poker, or table game operators were listed on the official whitelist for close to a year after the Compact was signed. The treaty went into effect.
Novomatic and Merkur joined forces to form Mernov, the first online slots operator to be given a license. Tipwin and Ruleo also both got their licenses in June this year. However, this business renamed itself to Deutsche Gesellschaft für Glücksspiel (DGGS) earlier this month, due to a new ownership structure.
