The 30th anniversary of the prestigious international poker tournament attracted more than 1,000 poker players to participate in the event. Although that number was a record, several other well-known poker stars participated in the main tournament. These included Marcel Luske, Noah Boeken, Michiel Brummelhuis and the winner of TV maker 2018 Alberto Stegeman. The line-up for the final table included Julien Sitbon (France), David Hu (NL), David Boyaciyan (NL), Matias Arosuo (Finland), Gilles Simon (NL) and Santo Bakker (Amsterdam).

Sitbon won the Master Classics of Poker board and a Rolex watch after beating Bakker in a mutual match at the Koepelzaal in Amsterdam. He did so enthusiastically during the fourth day of the tournament, which earned him the title of main table champion. As promised, he returned the following year to defend his title.

Several Dutchmen also made it to the final table. David Boyaciyan, David Hu and Gilles Simon finished in 3rd, 4th and 6th place respectively. The Dutch sent a massive delegation to the final; they counted more than 500 people in their ranks. The motivating fact that the cash prize was over a million euros didn't hurt either.

The annual Master Classics of Poker poker tournament series has been held at Holland Casino Amsterdam Centrum since 1992. The name of the series is synonymous with the age-old poker tournaments; anyone aged 18 and over is welcome to enter. One of the oldest international poker tournaments in Europe is held every year during the MCOP. It ran from Friday 18 November 2022 to Saturday 26 November. The annual Leidseplein 9 Days tournament attracts more than 1,000 poker players. They compete for a prize pool of almost 4 million euros. More than a thousand participants come from all over the world, including some professional and national players. Moreover, people who are not experienced players can participate and show their talent.
