In the Netherlands, it is prohibited to offer gambling without a license from the Ksa. Facilitation such as advertising of illegal gambling sites is also not allowed under the Games of Chance Act. The Ksa is taking various measures to combat illegal offerings, such as barring payment providers or Internet providers. By ensuring that these intermediaries no longer provide their services to illegal providers, illegal supply is made more difficult or perhaps even stopped altogether.

Agreement Cloudfare and Dutch gambling authority

The Kansspelautoriteit in the Netherlands has signed agreements with Cloudflare to tackle illegal gambling offerings even more effectively. The Ksa has already given Cloudflare two binding instructions for facilitating illegal offerings. Its goal is therefore to stop that. From these discussions, it appeared that this was not technically possible. Thereupon, the Ksa withdrew its binding instructions.

The Ksa was investigating illegal affiliate websites. Because the owners of those affiliate sites were not known, it instructed the Internet Service Provider Cloudflare to stop its services to the affiliates. In the conversation that followed, Cloudflare itself proved unable to take any action to end the violation: however, it was able to provide information that could help. Therefore, the binding instructions were withdrawn and agreements were made to combat the illegal offer.
