The CDA in The Hague city council is against the plans for a Hommerson Casino's establishment in the shopping centre on the De Savornin Lohmanplein. The gambling hall would be located in the space of the Asian restaurant at the top of the shopping centre. Hommerson can still use one operating licence in The Hague. That licence became available because the casino on the Scheveningen Boulevard had to make room for Legoland.
We are going to do everything in our power to stop this," says the CDA. Putting a casino there is an incredibly bad idea, the inhabitants of the Vruchtenbuurt and Bohemen do not want this", says a representative of the CDA.
The Christeunie/SGP is also against the plan. Five years on, the ruins of the Legoland deal made by VVD, CDA, Groep de Mos, D66 and PVV are still being passed on to the city. Just like the Scheveningse Haven and the Leyweg, the Savornin Lohmanplein is not a suitable location for a gambling palace.
The new location came into the picture after the municipality refused to grant permission for a gaming hall on the Dr. Lelykade in Scheveningen. A casino was not welcome on the Leyweg either.
