According to the Noordhollands Dagblad betting party BetCity will be the new shirt sponsor at AZ. Both parties have reached an agreement for a period of four years.

AZ does not wish to comment on the deal at this time, but the rumours have been circulating in the Alkmaar for weeks. AZ has previously signed a sponsor agreement with Unibet and it is possible that this agreement may yet throw a spanner in the works. Unlike BetCity, Unibet is not yet active on the Dutch gambling market. The agreement will be different from the current shirt sponsor AFAS. The current sponsor has an agreement for more than just the shirt of the club from Alkmaar. AFAS is also the namesake of the stadium and the training complex of AZ.

The new collaboration between AZ and BetCity.nl gives the Alkmaar club the opportunity to look for an additional party to name the stadium.
