The implementation of risk analysis measures often falls short, as evidenced by the Ksa's imposition of four warnings.
On August 1, 2024, a report was published highlighting the actions of the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) in preventing matchfixing. It was found that providers were approaching their obligations in different ways, prompting the Ksa to launch a follow-up investigation. This investigation revealed that the analyses of these providers often do not meet the necessary legal standards. The Ksa therefore issued four warnings in response to this issue.
Investigation into prevention of matchfixing Dutch casinos
In response to a signal indicating possible concerns about match-fixing, the Ksa launched an extensive market investigation in 2023. In early 2024, the Ksa issued extensive guidance to current providers of online sports betting through written communication. Recently, the Ksa conducted a targeted follow-up investigation, requesting information from several licensees on risk assessments for a specific match in a foreign league.
It was discovered that four providers had improperly performed and/or interpreted the associated analysis. As a result, the Ksa warned these four providers. In the future, the Ksa will continue to request random analyses from providers to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
