The Dutch Postcode Lottery continues to provide financial support to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) in the field of making fisheries in the southern hemisphere more sustainable. There is an agreement for three years, with an annual contribution of 500,000 euros. With this money the MSC can increase its support to fishermen in low-income countries. The Nationale Postcode Loterij believes that future generations have a right to thriving oceans and an abundance of sustainable seafood. The MSC's unique approach means that everyone can play a role in protecting to make this vision a reality.

The support covers MSC's programs to help fisheries become more sustainable, including in South Africa and Indonesia. The FAO revealed in mid-2020 that a growing number of fish stocks are still being fished at unsustainable levels.
National Postcode Lottery
The Nationale Postcode Loterij is the largest charity lottery in the Netherlands. At least 40 percent of each lottery ticket goes to the various charities it supports - and there are more than 105 of them. The Marine Stewardship Council has been a beneficiary of the National Postcode Lottery since 2011.
