A resident of Rijnsburg won the jackpot of 9.3 million euros in Saturday's Lotto draw. The Lotto announced this in a press release. The prizewinner got all six winning numbers right and became a millionaire overnight.
The person from Rijnsburg was invited to the offices of the Dutch Lottery, of which the Lotto is a subsidiary, and besides receiving the cash prize he also received help and guidance on his newly acquired wealth.
The lucky winner does have to give up some of the 9.3 million, as the Lotto Jackpot is a gross cash prize. This means that the winner still has to pay 29 per cent in gambling tax on this amount. This leaves a balance of around 6.6 million euros.
