The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, KSA) has launched a new information website, OpenOverGokken.nl a platform that’s refreshingly honest about the good, the bad, and the risky sides of gambling. Think of it as the place where gambling finally gets discussed without taboos or marketing fluff.
Trimbos Institute’s Expertise Centre on Gambling
Developed together with the Trimbos Institute’s Expertise Centre on Gambling and Verslavingskunde Nederland, the site aims to help players, families, and professionals understand how gambling works and where things can go wrong.
Visitors will find straightforward explanations, a self-test, a step-by-step guide for getting help, and a direct link to the official Kansspelwijzer, which lists all licensed Dutch operators.

“Most people play for fun, but not everyone sees how fast fun can turn into stress,” said a KSA spokesperson. “With OpenOverGokken, we want to make it easy for anyone whether you play yourself or worry about someone else—to find clear and trustworthy information.”
The platform also warns against illegal gambling sites, explains how to recognise early signs of problem gambling, and points users toward professional help if needed.
With this launch, the KSA reinforces its long-term focus on prevention, transparency, and responsible play, in line with its 2024–2028 strategic agenda.
